Reader event: Museum and Benja Harney at The Standard Store

“I’m a total jet nerd!”—Benja Harney

Using only paper, Benja Harney has fashioned blue and yellow crustaceans around adidas basketball sneakers and folded art deco tessellations for Penguin Books. He’s been guest of honour at the World Pop-Up exhibition in Seoul—having started his career, a decade ago, in pop-up books—and counts Hermès, Lego, ArtBank, Kaldor Public Art Projects and Google among his clientele.

For Museum’s latest issue, the paper engineer erected a replica Boeing 787 out of coloured stock, split into three separate pieces—and it’s about to receive new life at Sydney’s The Standard Store. On Thursday, Harney will install his plane in the retailer’s large glass windows, and to celebrate, we’re having gin cocktails with our readers and friends.

Come to the Crown Street fixture on Thursday 16 September from 6–8pm, meet Harney and have an Aviation cocktail on us, made from Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin. (The peculiarly unfashionable drink dates back to 1916.)

The Aviation
45ml Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin
22ml Lemon juice
2 dashes Maraschino liqueur
2 dashes Crème de violette
Serve chilled, with no ice.
